Portable Air Compressors Are Of Two Types
An air compressor is any device that can take in atmospheric air and compress it to increase its kinetic energy. These devices are used in many places domestically and industrially. However, portable air compressors are mostly used at home or to provide power to air tools. These portable models are small and light allowing them to be carried around easily. There are basically two types of these air compressors. One is called a positive displacement compressor while the other is called a negative displacement compressor.
The first form makes use of compressing volumes of air to achieve an increase in air pressure whereas the second one accelerates and decelerates air to produce the compression effect. Most portable models rely on the first type because of the ease of manufacturing, while the fixed compressors mostly make use of the latter method of air compression. Furthermore, the price also varies between the two variants with the latter being costlier.
